Second Family Consulting began as Second Family Childcare in 2020, born from the real-life challenges and triumphs of our founder, Debra Locke. Starting her journey in childcare at 16, Debra saw firsthand the obstacles facing low-income families and aspiring providers.
Determined to make a difference, she built a program that goes far beyond classroom training — it creates an extended family of support, mentoring, and opportunity.

Debra Locke
CEO & Founder
Debra began her journey in childcare at age 16, watching her mother serve as a Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) provider. Having witnessed firsthand the obstacles faced by low-income families and aspiring childcare providers, she founded Second Family Consulting in 2020 to create an equitable pathway into the early childhood field.
Her vision: a career with little to no college debt — and life-changing opportunity for all.
